Bauchi government Mohammed reassigns roles of cabinet members following resignation

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has reassigned his portfolios to members of the State Executive Council (SEC) to fill the gap created by the exit of a number of cabinet members.

The development, which now involves several commissioners overseeing key ministries and offices, was announced in a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.

The Chief of Staff of Government House, Hassan Gamawa, and six commissioners recently resigned from their posts to pursue their political ambitions.

To address the resulting vacancies, the governor ordered the deployment and reassignment of several cabinet members to oversee affected ministries and offices while awaiting the appointment of substantive replacements.

Based on the directive, Hashimu Yakubu, Principal Private Secretary (PPS), will supervise the Office of the Chief of Staff, Government House, while Dr. Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam is assigned to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub (SAN), will oversee the Ministry of Local Government and Leadership, while the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Usman Usman Shehu, will be tasked with overseeing the Ministry of Water Resources.

In line with that, the Commissioner for Housing and the Environment, Rt. Dear. Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will oversee the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties.

Additionally, Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, is tasked with overseeing the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, while Mohammed Sadiq Shira, Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, will oversee the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

Likewise, the Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, DIG Sani Mohammed (rtd.), has been directed to oversee the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

Governor Mohammed, while wishing the incumbent officers success in their future endeavours, urged the newly commissioned members to take full responsibility for their roles and use their experience in ensuring effective governance.

He further directed them to cooperate with their respective Permanent Secretaries in managing the affairs of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
