The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has announced the adjustment of the date of its 2026 primary election activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also announced a downward review of nomination form fees, following extensive consultations with party leaders, candidates and stakeholders across the country.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by national publicity secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the statement, βBased on the updated schedule, sales of nomination forms will take place from May 1 to May 4, 2026, while purchase and submission of completed forms will take place from May 6 to May 13, 2026, with May 13 set as the final submission deadline.
“Screening of candidates is scheduled for 14 May and 15 May 2026, with publication of the screening results on 17 May 2026. The appeal will be heard between 18 May and 19 May 2026, while the final list of successful candidates will be announced on 20 May 2026.
βThe primary elections for the State Council, House of Representatives and Senate will be held on May 21, 2026, followed by the gubernatorial primary on May 22, 2026.
βThe presidential primary election is scheduled for May 23, 2026. This will be followed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on May 25, 2026, and the Special National Convention on May 26, 2026.
βIn addition, following review, the fee for nomination forms has been set at N90,000,000 for presidential candidates, N30,000,000 for governorship, N10,000,000 for Senate, N5,000,000 for House of Representatives, and N2,000,000 for State House of Assembly.
βThe party maintained its concession framework, providing a 50 percent discount for young candidates aged between 18 and 35, and a 25 percent discount for women and people with disabilities.
βThese adjustments reflect the results of extensive consultations aimed at strengthening internal democracy, increasing access, and ensuring that ADC continues to provide a credible and inclusive platform for political participation.
βAll candidates and stakeholders are advised to take note of the updated schedule and revised fees, and to fully comply with all published guidelines,β it said.
