Man United can challenge for Premier League title: Carrick

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has revealed his team can compete with their Premier League rivals for the title this season despite spending much more in the transfer market.

Recall that the Red Devils spent significantly less in the transfer market than rivals such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham during the summer window.

In a talk with club websiteCarrick insisted that high spending does not guarantee success on the field and emphasized that team balance, the right dynamic, hard work and getting the best out of existing players are more important.

Backed by midfield additions and a strong sense of unity, Carrick feels the team is in a positive position to compete for major honors despite the financial disparity.

“I certainly feel like we can compete,” Carrick said. “I think the challenge is just getting the right dynamic, the right balance, the right group, the best players in the group to make the rest better.

‘The actual amount of money in the end, I understand that can be a big thing. It doesn’t always have to be the answer, but it can be.

‘It is what it is. I think we know what we have and what we can achieve. Money is one thing. Another thing is what you do with it and how you make the most of it.

“Obviously there are some teams that are a little further behind us. We’ve been here about eight months and some of the players were here not long before me.

“But it’s up to us to do the job and get the best out of the group. We have a fantastic group of players, and they have shown for a while that we can achieve results, play well and win in all kinds of different places and environments.”
