The Tanimu Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee (INWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday rejected the recognition of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, as the party’s national leader.
The faction also stated that the minister could not do anything about the ongoing sale of nomination forms and expressions of interest for the 2027 election.
INWC National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, stated this in Abuja.
He was reacting to a media chatter on Wednesday by the former governor of Rivers State.
The spokesperson stated that the post of national leader does not exist in the party’s constitution.

Ememobong insisted that the faction would hold primaries from which a credible presidential candidate would emerge.
He said the party understood Wike’s dissatisfaction with the commencement of sales of forms and activities for holding the presidential primaries.
Ememobong added that his party had apologized to Nigerians for offering its platform to Wike to become local government chairman, minister of state and governor.
“On the issues he (Wike) raised regarding the judgment, pending the release of the Certified Original Copy of the rejected cross-appeal, we would be happy if the minister would tell the world what the reliefs are in the cross-appeal filed by his friends and what the court verdict is,” the bench spokesperson concluded.
