NFF appoints Maikaba and Uwejamomere as coaches of Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets

The Executive Committee of the Nigerian Football Federation has approved the appointment of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the country’s U20 and U17 men’s national teams respectively.

The appointments followed the recommendations of the NFF Technical and Development Committee as the federation continues preparations for the upcoming youth competitions.

Maikaba takes charge of the Flying Eagles after years of experience in the Nigerian football scene. The experienced tactician previously coached the Golden Eaglets and also served as an assistant coach for the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.

He has managed several top teams in the Nigerian Premier Football League including Enyimba, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars and Plateau United. Maikaba is widely remembered for guiding Akwa United to Federation Cup glory in 2017.

Meanwhile, Uwejamomere has been appointed head coach of the Golden Eaglets, replacing Manu Garba’s coaching team following the recent reshuffle in the youth set-up.

Uwejamomere has worked extensively within the national teams as a coach-analyst with the Super Eagles and also played a similar role with the Super Falcons.

The highly-rated youth development expert is currently Academy Director at Sporting Lagos, who recently gained promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League.

His coaching resume also includes development roles at English clubs Millwall, Gillingham and Nottingham Forest, while he previously served as head coach of Abeokuta-based Stormers FC.

The appointments are expected to strengthen the fabric of Nigerian youth football as both teams prepare for future continental and international assignments.
