The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar-Farouq wanted over fraud charges.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, made the announcement on Saturday in a search notice posted on the commission’s website.
Farouq, who served as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023, is wanted for alleged criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
Oyewale confirmed that Farouq, 52, is from Zamfara State and his last known address is EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
The EFCC spokesperson urged the public to cooperate in locating Farouq and provided contact details for anyone with information on his whereabouts.
“The public is hereby informed that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds,” the notice read.
The EFCC also encouraged members of the public to report any useful information to its offices located in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja. Furthermore, the commission can be contacted by telephone on 08093322644 or by email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Information can also be reported to the nearest police station.
