Iheanacho reveals timeline for contract negotiations with Celtic

Celtic striker Kelechi Iheanacho has said a decision will be made on his future after Saturday’s crucial league clash against Hearts.

Iheanacho joined the Hoops on a free transfer last summer after breaking ties with Spanish club Sevilla.

The Nigerian international signed a one-year deal, with Celtic having the option to extend his deal for a further year.

“I think after 90 minutes on Saturday, we will talk about it,” Iheanacho was quoted as saying by the Daily Record.

Iheanacho insisted Celtic are fully prepared for the winner-take-all showdown against league leaders Hearts.

“We are happy where we are at the moment and we will fight on Saturday to see that we win. It will be necessary for us to have this fighting spirit to win trophies, to fight together as a team, to work together as a team to win,” he added.

“We’ve had that all season, so we’ll take advantage of it on Saturday. It’s like a cup final, so we’ll give it our all. And we’re at home, so we have to give it our all to win and they are a very, very strong team.

“I think it’s a huge moment. It will be a huge moment for the club. Since this season, Hearts have been one of the strongest teams in the league. It’s going to be a very, very difficult game. It’s a challenge for the title. They’re going to go all out to win the title. We need to be prepared to face that.”
