Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate suspension of one of his aides, Dayo Ibijowo.
This follows Ibilowo’s arrest on suspicion of thuggery.
Yinka Oyebode, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, stated this in a statement on Friday in Ado Ekiti.
According to him, Ibijowo was among 11 suspected armed thugs arrested on Thursday in Ikun-Ekiti by members of the Rapid Reaction Force (RRS).
Police alleged that the suspects were hired by a member of the House of Representatives to disrupt the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday.
Oyebode said the suspended aide would remain out of office until the completion of police investigations.
He added that this action underscored the governor’s zero-tolerance attitude towards crime, violence and other actions that could damage public peace.

The special advisor also recalled that the governor, in his recent visit to the 16 local government areas of the state, appealed to politicians and their supporters to behave peacefully before, during and after the election period.
He warned that no acts of lawlessness or political violence would be tolerated in the state.
