Iheanacho wins the Scottish championship with Celtic

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho won the Scottish Championship with Celtic after his team defeated Hearts FC 3-1 to become Scottish champions for the 56th time.

With 79 points going into their final match against Hearts FC, Celtic needed to take all three points to win the league and they did so with a dramatic comeback victory.

Hearts FC scored in the 42nd minute when Shankland’s shot beat the Celtic goalkeeper to send the home fans into a frenzy.

But Celtic equalized just before the end of the half thanks to Engels’ well-taken penalty.

Martin O’Neill’s men wrapped up the victory with late goals from Meada and Osmand in the 86th and 97th minutes.

Former Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench in the title decider and almost found the back of the net, but his shot hit the woodwork.

Iheanacho had rekindled Celtic’s title hopes in the previous match against Motherwell, where he scored a 97th-minute penalty to give his team a 3-2 victory, putting them within just 1 point of Hearts FC.

It is the first league title for Iheanacho following spells with Manchester City and Leicester City where he won the FA Cup and EFL Championship titles.
