Chelle recruits the young goalkeeper to the Super Eagles team for the Unity Cup

Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has decided to add young Ikorodu City goalkeeper Michael Atata to his team for the upcoming Unity Cup friendly tournament in London, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The goalkeeper has impressed modest Ikorodu City this season with 16 clean sheets for his team, which is chasing a continental spot.

He has already attended visa interviews at the British Embassy in Abuja. He did it along with six other players from teams in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

From what we have gathered, four of the seven selected players are from Ikorodu town. Atata will be the third goalkeeper of the tournament behind the duo of Arthur Okonkwo and Francis Uzoho.

While Uzoho is the favorite to start in goal, Okonkwo will receive his baptism into senior international football at the tournament and Chelle will be keen to see how he fits in ahead of high-profile friendly matches against Poland and Portugal respectively.
