Bwari: Maxicare organizes medical awareness activities for rural residents of FCT

The Maxicare Rural Health Initiative has extended its free medical care to residents of Muko community in Dutse Baupama, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The successful two-day medical outreach, held on Wednesday and Thursday, May 13 and 14, 2026, brought essential health services directly to the rural community with limited access to medical facilities.

Over the course of the two-day exercise, hundreds of residents received general medical checkups, free medications for common ailments, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as testing and treatment for malaria.

Other medical services provided at the center are health education on hygiene, nutrition and disease prevention; referrals for cases requiring specialist or hospital care, relieving many beneficiaries who had not had access to professional medical care for more than a year.

The initiative aimed to close the health gap for underserved communities and support the national push towards universal health coverage.

“We thank our team of volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists and community volunteers whose dedication made this outreach possible.

“We also appreciate the cooperation of the leaders and residents of the Duste Alhaji community for their warm welcome and organization.

“The Maxicare Rural Health Initiative remains committed to extending accessible, quality healthcare to rural Nigerians. We call on government agencies, private sector partners and well-meaning individuals to partner with us to reach more communities in need,” said the organisation’s Director General, Dr Abel Yusuf.
