Former Jigawa State governor and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has warned former President Goodluck Jonathan against interfering in his 2027 presidential bid.
The former governor in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday said that Jonathan was in the “global alumni ranking of world leaders”, and that it would be unfair and inappropriate to drag him into the “murky” political arena that currently surrounds the administration.
He wrote, “Former President Jonathan understood his position in Nigeria as a Leader in his capacity as Former President thereby making him a symbol of sovereignty.

“He is also included in the ranks of global alumni of world leaders. It would be unfair and inappropriate to drag his figure into the gloomy political arena which is currently filled with selfless and self-serving characters, just a week before the closing of nominations for candidates to run for various positions in the 2027 election.”
“Moreover, the political parties we have are fragmented, have no ideology other than the struggle for power!
“The call for President Jonathan to enter the political arena no matter how good his intentions are stems from the helplessness and hopelessness that Nigeria is experiencing. For NOW, President Jonathan needs to maintain his dignified position as our sovereign possession.
“While this call is appreciated, it is a cry of desperation that lacks depth beyond simply being a means of channeling frustration.
President Jonathan must not be fooled by these ego calls! We can save it for the future.”
