The president of Galatasaray reveals “shocking” details when signing Osimhen from Napoli

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has spoken about some of the details of Victor Osimhen’s permanent signing from Italian Serie A side Napoli this summer, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Osimhen was signed permanently after a successful season on loan, but it was not a direct deal according to the Turkish team’s president, who said Napoli acted in a way he had never seen before.

“He had a release clause of 75 million euros and we started the transfer process accordingly. Napoli asked for a guarantee for the Osimhen club. I had never seen anything like this before. They used the CEO of UniCredit, who is Koç’s partner, as a guide,” Fanatik said.

“We paid a part in advance and I contributed another part from my own company. 35 million euros from my own company… In that sense, it was a very difficult transfer. Osimhen showed with his performance that he deserved this money.”

Reacting to speculation that the Nigerian could leave in the summer as he is the top target of a host of teams, Özbek played down the importance and said there is no price for the 27-year-old.

“Now, Osimhen is raising a second generation of Galatasaray fans. We are very happy to have signed him… We do not intend to sell Víctor Osimhen! Putting a price on a player that you do not intend to sell is like dressing a footballer before he is even born…”
