Sallah: Kogi Police Command deploys 485 personnel for security cover – THIS

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has ordered the proactive deployment of 485 security personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and smooth Sallah celebration.

The commissioner in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Saliu Afusat, said the action is in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu psc (+), NPM, to protect lives and property, maintain law and order and prevent criminal elements from taking advantage of the festive period to disturb public peace,

According to the statement “The deployment involves personnel from Divisions, Area Commands, State Headquarters, Police Mobile Force (PMF), State Intelligence Department (SID), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit and Safer Highways Patrol Teams.

“As part of efforts to strengthen the security architecture during the celebration, the Command is also working in synergy with sister security agencies to ensure coordinated operational activities aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and visitors across the State.

“The Command has strategically deployed a total of 485 personnel to identified locations within the State. Hotspots have been identified and security measures have been beefed up accordingly to prevent any threat to public peace and security.

“While these deployments have been carried out, the Commissioner of Police has equally directed all Divisional Police Officers and Operational Commanders across the State to strengthen security in their respective areas of responsibility and intensify confidence building and crime prevention patrols to ensure that there are no security gaps for criminal elements to exploit during the festive period.

“The Commissioner of Police has instructed all deployed personnel to remain courteous but firm in the performance of their duties, ensuring professionalism and rigorous respect for the fundamental human rights of citizens.

“The PC further urges residents of Kogi State to remain safety conscious, cooperate with security agencies and timely report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation, wishing all law abiding residents and Kogites a peaceful and joyful celebration of Eid”
