Atiku defeated Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen to win the ADC presidential ticket for 2027

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has won the presidential primaries
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) gave him permission to fly his party’s flag in the 2027 general elections.

In final results announced on Wednesday evening after days of vote counting, Atiku secured 1,855,787 votes across 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), beating other contenders: former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and businessman, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.

Amaechi won in three states: Rivers and two Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom, while Hayatu-Deen only won Kwara State.

The two men last night boycotted the final tally of primary election results, and rejected the results as they were released from the state.

They alleged irregularities, fraud and fabricating the results.

At the center of the probe were: ADC National Chairman David Mark, members of the party’s National Executive Committee and National Working Committee (NWC), and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), headed by National Commissioner Sam Olumekun.

Chairman of the Presidential Electoral Committee, Ikechi Emenike, said some of the results were delivered virtually, while hard copies were still being delivered to Abuja by state officials.

He also explained that the party limited their number of votes to membership records previously submitted to INEC in accordance with election guidelines.

In his acceptance speech, Atiku expressed wishes to Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen, asking them to join hands with him to win the ADC elections.

He slammed the APC-led Federal Government, saying the party had failed to live up to the expectations of Nigerians.

“At this moment, it is not the time to celebrate. There are no losers. We are one side and we all need to realize how urgent this moment is.”

In a direct appeal to the two contenders, he said, “I invite Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to join me in the fight to save democracy and our country.”
