VDM who said he was in China, negotiating for the construction of a power plant in Nigeria, claimed the video of him, Onanuga’s comments and supporting comments calling for his arrest by other Twitter users was an orchestrated plan by the government to arrest and silence him because he was speaking out against the current government.
He challenged the government to arrest him upon his return to Nigeria, and vowed he would rather be imprisoned than remain silent about the situation in Nigeria.
VDM also criticized Onanuga for not commenting on the situation of insecurity and kidnapping in Nigeria, but was quick to comment because the issue involved politics and elections.
He lamented that on Children’s Day, teachers and students kidnapped from schools in Oyo State were still being held hostage, but Onanuga did not comment on the matter.
