Former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has reaffirmed his membership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, insisting that no one has offered him a vice presidential ticket.
Amaechi made the clarification on Wednesday in his first interview since the ADC presidential primaries, during an exclusive session with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo on #WithChude.
“I stand by what I said about ‘made up results’. But I’m still a member of the ADC. Nobody asked me to be vice president,” he said.
The former presidential aspirant, who celebrated his 61st birthday a day early at his residence in Abuja, used the interview to address swirling speculations about his political future, his relationship with key figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark and his assessment of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Amaechi had previously described the ADC primary process as flawed, using the word “made up” to question its credibility. In the _#WithChude_ interview, he reiterated this position, but emphasized that his criticism was about process, not party loyalty.
The full interview is expected to be broadcast on the _#WithChude_ platform and will cover Amaechi’s views on betrayal, friendship with Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, marriage and why he believes he is different from “politicians driven only by personal gain”.
Amaechi lost the ADC presidential bid to Dumebi Kachikwu, a result he rejected immediately after the primaries.
