The Senate on Wednesday condemned the abduction of schoolchildren, teachers and pupils from schools in Oyo State, and urged the Federal Government and security agencies to mobilize all necessary resources to immediately rescue the victims.
Lawmakers observed a minute’s silence for those killed in the attack and expressed concern over repeated attacks on schools and rural communities, and warned that such incidents threatened the nation’s future.

During the debate, senators called for stronger implementation of the Safe Schools Initiative, increased intelligence gathering and increased protections for vulnerable communities.
