‘Nobody came out because of the sound of gunshots’, eyewitness recounts of kidnapping of Adelabu’s twins

An eyewitness who claimed to have witnessed the kidnapping scene of the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu and her twin children has narrated what happened during the operation.

Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons were kidnapped on Wednesday around Elewura, Challenge area of ​​Ibadan on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that Mrs Olaide is the youngest of the five children of Mrs Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu. He is the younger brother of former Minister of Power and APC gubernatorial candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.

The witness, who did not want to be named, said that the victim was attacked on Wednesday at around 07.30 when he was about to take his child to school.

According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen opened fire sporadically to frighten residents and passersby who might try to block their path.

He added that the gunmen might have been waiting for him around his residence located around Elewura, Challenge area, adding that the operation appeared to have been premeditated and premeditated.

He noted that it was sporadic gunfire that attracted people to the scene but before anyone could do anything, the operation was over.

“The woman was forced out of her red Hyundai Sonata and taken away with her children in a car driven by the kidnappers.

“Even when we reached the car, the engine and AC were still on and people were afraid to even touch them.

“We are not sure how many there are because the operation was almost finished before people noticed.

“It looks like they were driving to overtake a car on a quiet road and they came out on the RingRoad and headed towards the Challenge area.

“The streets have been quiet since the incident because people still don’t believe what happened.

“Many people who are unaware of the incident also recognize the car and its owner and know that her husband lives abroad. He is a member of the Adebayo Adelabu family.

“People couldn’t even come out, but only peeked to see what was happening when the sound of gunfire attracted them to come out,” explained the source.

The Oyo State Police Command had earlier confirmed the incident and stated that Investigation into the matter had commenced.
