Ikpeme urges the Super Eagles to seek victory against Guinea-Bissau

The Acting General Secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Emmanuel Ikpeme, has urged the Super Eagles to remain fully focused and avoid complacency as they prepare to face Guinea-Bissau in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Nigeria will face the Wild Dogs at the 24 September Stadium in Bissau on Tuesday, and Ikpeme stressed the importance of getting the three points.

Ikpeme reunites the Super Eagles

Ikpeme delivered the message to the players before the crucial match, reminding them of Nigeria’s previous match against Guinea-Bissau at the same venue.

“Three years ago we were here for a similar AFCON qualification match and we won by a single goal,” Ikpeme told the players.

“Victory is crucial on Tuesday and I think you will give everything for the three points as you did three years ago and as you did on Friday against Madagascar in Uyo.

“Our attention and concentration must be one hundred percent during the 90 minutes, because Guinea-Bissau is a very strong team in every sense.

“We played against them at AFCON 2021 in Cameroon and we needed all our strength and diligence to win. We cannot take this team for granted.”

Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau have met four times in official high-level international matches: the Super Eagles achieved three victories, while the Djurtus won once.
