The English side signed Nigerian star, Yohanna, on a 5 year contract

Nigerian star Zadok Yohanna is set to join the English Premier League as Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement to sign the winger from Swedish club AIK Stockholm on a five-year deal.

The deal, which is still subject to regulatory approval, is valid until June 2031, and will be completed when the transfer window reopens.

However, financial details of the transfer were not disclosed.

Yohanna, who turns 19 later this month, joins Brighton after emerging as one of the brightest young talents in Sweden’s top flight. The winger has impressed during his time with AIK, gaining attention for his performances in league and cup competitions.

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler expressed his delight at the Nigerian youngster’s arrival, describing him as a player capable of making a difference in attacking areas.

“I’m looking forward to working with Zadok,” said Hurzeler. “He is a player who can influence the game in the final third of the pitch. Although he is still young and will need time to adapt, he has qualities that make him an exciting prospect.”

The Brighton manager highlighted Yohanna’s pace, creativity and ability to take on defenders, and noted that her attributes would strengthen the club’s attacking options.

Yohanna started his football journey at Ikon Allah Football Academy in Nigeria before moving to Sweden in 2025 to join AIK.

While in Europe, he has made 18 appearances for AIK this season in all competitions, scoring five goals and registering four assists.

The move marks another significant step in the young winger’s career as he prepares for the challenge of playing in the English Premier League.
