Police killed the kidnapper during an operation to rescue Adelabu’s sister

Police operatives in Oyo State on Saturday night killed two suspected kidnappers in an operation to rescue the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

The victims – Mrs. Busayo Adelabu-JohnPaul, and his twin sons, Peter and Paul were kidnapped by gunmen in Ibadan last week.

The State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, told journalists on Sunday that a number of weapons, criminal talismans and an unregistered Toyota Corolla were also recovered in the raid.

Olugbenga said the operation was carried out by agents of the Department of Force Intelligence – Intelligence Response Team, FID-IRT, working alongside the Oyo State Police Command and other tactical units.

He described the raid as a decisive attack in dismantling the kidnapping syndicate terrorizing the Ibadan area.

“The raid was sparked by the kidnapping of Mrs. Busayo Adelabu-JohnPaul, 42, and her 11-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, on June 3, at around 7.30am.

“The victims were arrested by four armed men in an unregistered gray Toyota vehicle along Elewura Road, off Ring Road in Ibadan, when the mother was dropping her children off at school.

“Acting on a directive from the Inspector General of Police, we immediately began an intelligence-led manhunt.

“Officers intensified surveillance and tracking, which led to the arrest of Wale Abolalewa, alias “Oloro,” a suspect who was already on the Command’s watch list.

“His arrest was the first major breakthrough in the gang’s network.

“Further interrogations led investigators to Dare Oyedele, aka “Solution,” who was identified as the main operational link in the syndicate,” the CP said.
