The Society for Citizens Safety (SCS) has urged the Nigeria Armed Forces to support and intensify ongoing operations against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers across the country.
The group, in a statement released on Monday by its secretary, Gambo Abdullahi, assured the military of the support of Nigerians in the fight against insecurity.
Abdullahi said the military’s recent operational successes demonstrated that criminal elements can be defeated through sustained pressure and intelligence-led operations.
He said the recent rescue of 360 abducted residents of Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno by Operation Hadin Kai troops, was proof that persistent military action could yield positive results.
He said the operation, which secured the freedom of hundreds of prisoners held by insurgents since March, should inspire renewed efforts to dismantle terrorist enclaves and rescue other victims still in captivity.
He said the operation conducted in the Mandara Mountains highlighted the importance of determination, coordination and effective intelligence in tackling rebel groups operating in the north-east.
The group also praised recent air operations in Borno which reportedly neutralized several terrorists and destroyed a gun truck, stressing that such actions continue to degrade the operational capabilities of rebel groups.
Abdullahi also applauded Operation Savannah Shield troops for the arrest of suspected bandits and terrorist informants in Niger State, stressing that dismantling support networks remains crucial to defeating criminal organisations.
According to him, the recovery of weapons, ammunition, communications equipment and other artifacts from suspects in various operations shows that security forces are constantly disrupting logistics and supply chains, fueling insecurity.
We also commended Operation Enduring Peace troops for rescuing kidnapped victims and foiling kidnapping attempts in Plateau and Kaduna states.
Likewise, the arrest of a suspected arms supplier and the recovery of over 1,000 rounds of ammunition by Operation Fansan Yanma troops in Zamfara represent a significant breakthrough in efforts to disrupt the flow of weapons to bandit groups,” he said.
Tinubu to Nigerians: My government will face economic hardship, not succumb to terrorists
Abdullahi urged the armed forces to maintain the momentum and intensify the offensive against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers, recognizing the sacrifices and commitment of military personnel in various theaters of operation.
He expressed confidence that with sustained operations, improved intelligence and continued public support, lasting peace and security will be restored across the country. (NAN)
