Athletics Guru Akin Afolarin Celebrates NCAA Achievements Made by Kayinsola Ajayi and Five Other Nigerian Athletes

Renowned track and field guru, Akin Afolarin, is celebrating the recent achievements of Nigeria’s latest sprinting sensation, Kanyinsola Ajayi, and five of his compatriots at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) outdoor events in the United States.

Sports247 reports that Afolarin, who is an educator, administrator and broadcaster of competition events, noted that Ajayi led his Nigerian achievers with his new national record in the men’s 100 metres, which was one of four gold medals for the country.

While gleefully highlighting Ajayi’s great achievement, Afolarin, who is a highly respected athletics encyclopedia, further highlighted the results achieved by Samuel Ogazi, Temitope Adeshina and Chinecherem Nnamdi in other events.

The learned athletics official, who is also a school teacher in the Ojo area of ​​Lagos, took to social media to praise the six Nigerian athletes and adorned his post with graphic representations of their various medals.

Afolarin stated: “Six Nigerian athletes clinched individual medals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which included four champions, one silver winner and one bronze medalist.

Sports247 reported that Ajayi and other athletes will soon be in Nigeria to compete during the national trials, which will be held at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), for the selection of the country’s athletes for this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honorable Bukola Olopade, has already tasked the Nigerian team with winning 20 gold medals at the Games, which will be held from July 23 to August 2, and Ajayi is already rated as a sure winner in the men’s 100 metres.
