The military remains a key institution to preserve the unity of Nigeria: Kefas

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, on Monday said the Nigerian Army remains the critical institution to preserve the unity, sovereignty and stability of the country.

Kefas, who said this in Jalingo during the 2026 Nigerian Army Day celebration, commended the Army for its resilience and steadfast commitment to preserving the unity of the nation.

He added that despite the numerous security challenges facing the country, officers continued to sacrifice themselves to safeguard the nation.

He argued that military service requires discipline, courage, loyalty, endurance and selfless sacrifice.

“The 2026 NADCEL theme, “Protecting the Nation and Serving the People: A Way Forward for the Nigerian Army”, reflects the importance of professionalism, discipline and commitment to constitutional order in strengthening the role of the Army in national development,” he noted.

He underlined that the Army played a key role in territorial defense, internal security operations, peacekeeping missions and addressing emerging security challenges.

He hinted that Nigerians must continue to pray for members of the armed forces and political leaders.

Encourages citizens to support security agencies by promoting peace, providing useful information and promoting national unity.
