Alleged Gbajabiamila corruption scandal: Indifference is not an option, says Atiku – THISAGE

Former Vice President of Nigeria and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has advised President Bola Tinubu to set an example by holding his own appointees accountable for their actions.

Reacting to the $400 million corruption allegations against Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director General of the Presidential Council for the Promotion of Foreign Intervention (PFIPC), Atiku explained that Gbajabiamila’s claim that the agency did not exist only created further credibility gaps for the Chief of Staff.

According to Atiku, “how can you budget $27.4 billion into the budget of a government agency that doesn’t exist without leaving more questions than answers.”

The ADC presidential candidate explained that the Chief of Staff’s statements only created further problems for the government.

According to him, the allocation of $27.4 billion to an agency that does not exist calls into question the credibility of the entire 2026 national budget.

The Waziri Adamawa said this alleged colossal budget fraud cannot be swept under the carpet with weak and unconvincing explanations from the Chief of Staff.

The former vice president recommended suspending the chief of staff and conducting an independent investigation to establish the full truth about this national scandal.

“Good governance is based on transparency and accountability and you cannot achieve this by protecting your family and friends. President Tinubu must set an example by holding his Chief of Staff to the same standards of accountability as other public officials. $27 billion is no joke. The rule of law must prevail in this matter. Let President Tinubu demonstrate to Nigerians that he is sincerely committed to accountability in his administration,” he advised.
