Silversports Football Club of Mbaise drew 1-1 against Chika FC of Owerri in an entertaining encounter at the ongoing Imo State Football Association League 2026.

The youngest team in the competition showed marked improvement after learning from the previous match, when they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Evermore FC. Silversports entered the game with greater confidence and faced their more experienced opponents with determination and resilience.

Chika FC took the lead in the 17th minute through Akeoma Lucky. Silversports had earlier come close to opening the scoring when Ugochukwu Kennedy missed a golden opportunity to put his team ahead in the 15th minute when his shot into an open goal went wide.

Uchenna Eguatu caused problems for the Owerri team’s defense with his impressive runs down the wing. Eguatu repeatedly stretched Chika FC’s defense with his pace and launched dangerous balls into the attacking area, creating opportunities for his team.

Chika FC turned the pressure on Mbaise’s team and took advantage of the opportunities, taking the lead.

The second half saw a different Silversports team pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Uchenna Eguatu and Nkwocha Chukwuma continued to torment the Chika FC defense with their attacking movements, while the entire team increased the pressure.

Silversports came within inches of equalizing the score in the 80th minute, but their effort rattled the woodwork. Chika FC responded immediately with an attempt that also hit the post, keeping the game in balance.

The pressure finally paid off for Silversports in the 95th minute, when Anyamele scored what could be described as one of the goals of the competition. Captain Obinna started the action with a brilliant run down the line before Anyamele bypassed two defenders with a beautiful dribble and calmly finished to find the back of the net, securing a deserved equalizer and a precious point for his team.

In the other match of the day, Evermore FC and Madoka FC played out a goalless draw, leaving Evermore top of the table with four points. Chika FC occupy third position with one point, while Silversports FC remain at the bottom of the table with one point.
