Honorable Ayo Omidiran Reiterates Federal Government’s Determination to Protect ‘Clean Athletes’

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Honorable Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has reiterated the Nigerian government’s determination to protect “clean athletes” and ensure that competitors who stay away from performance-enhancing drugs are not overwhelmed by cheaters.

Sports247 reports that the women’s football promoter and former member of the House of Representatives made this statement at the inauguration of the technical board of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Center (NADC), which she stated is a significant step towards strengthening integrity among all practitioners.

While also acknowledging the need to ensure greater transparency and global competitiveness in Nigerian sports, Omidiran added that the inauguration of the board comes after the National Anti-Doping Law was enacted last year.

He noted that this demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the federal government to safeguard the credibility of performances in Nigerian sports and align the country with international best practices under the World Anti-Doping Code.

Omidiran, who is also Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), stated that the establishment of NADC is a strategic institutional reform that reinforces the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration by promoting accountability, justice and excellence in the nation’s sporting ecosystem.

“The inauguration of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Center Technical Board is a historic achievement for Nigerian sport. It reflects the determination of the Federal Government to protect clean athletes, uphold integrity in competition and restore greater confidence in the Nigerian sports system.

“I congratulate the President and members of the technical board on their well-deserved appointments and urge them to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism and fairness. Their success will protect our athletes and strengthen Nigeria’s position within the global sporting community,” Omidiran concluded.
