2027: Ogun West groups support Adebutu’s governorship ambition, pledge votes

The governorship ambition of Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, received a boost on Wednesday when several political support groups, youth organizations and community stakeholders in Ogun West declared their support for his 2027 candidature.

Thousands of Yewa axis supporters gathered at Tetede Hall in Ilaro where they supported Adebutu and pledged to mobilize votes for his emergence as the state’s next governor.

The groups, which include PDP faithful and other political movements, described Adebutu as the preferred candidate for the governorship, insisting that they would strive to see him win at the polls.

Speaking at the event, a leader of the Believe movement from Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Chief Akinbami Lukman, said members of the group resolved to support Adebutu in what he described as the overall interest of Ogun State.

Lukman said the group volunteered to work for the success of the PDP candidate and would ensure that every vote cast for him counted.

Also speaking, the leader of the Door-to-Door Foot Soldiers, Jimoh Azeez, expressed confidence that young voters will play a decisive role in the 2027 elections.

He said: “We will mobilize, we will vote and we will keep our votes. The ruling class should know that it is a new dawn. We are on the field and they will be shocked.”

Azeez added that the group will work to ensure that what he described as Yewa’s aspiration for a “true son of the soil” becomes a reality.

Other speakers at the event praised the philanthropic activities of the Adebutu family, arguing that the PDP candidate had consistently supported the less privileged even without holding public office.

They expressed confidence that if elected governor, Adebutu would prioritize people-oriented governance and ensure that the state’s resources are deployed for the public good.

Representatives of the Awori community also supported Adebutu, stating that their support was based on his perceived leadership qualities rather than political affiliations.

Responding, Adebutu thanked supporters for what he described as an overwhelming display of solidarity, saying he was encouraged by the welcome given to him from Ilaro’s entrance to the venue.

The PDP candidate reiterated his commitment to the development of Ogun West and the entire state, urging residents to express their choice through voting.

“I am happy with the determination I have seen here. Democracy belongs to the people and they should speak with their votes. We have only one Ogun State and we must protect our heritage,” he said.

Adebutu also paid a courtesy visit to the Ilaro traditional council where he was received by the royal fathers before proceeding to the sponsorship event.

The endorsement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election continue to gain momentum across Ogun State.
