Nigerian coach Aliyu Zubair has officially left Telecom SC of the Egyptian second division by mutual agreement.

Zubair confirmed the fact and described the decision as one made with a clear understanding between him and the club hierarchy.

“It was a mutual agreement reached with a clear understanding between the management of Telecom SC and myself. I sincerely appreciate the club management, the players, the technical team and the wonderful fans for the opportunity to serve. I wish the club nothing but success in the future,” Zubair said.

Although his stay at the Egyptian club was relatively short, having joined in November 2025, the highly-rated tactician had a significant impact in raising the club’s profile and competitive advantage.

Under his leadership, Telecom SC reached the semi-finals of the Egyptian FA Cup after eliminating several top-flight rivals, while the team also performed excellently in the Egyptian Second Division League.

The former El-Kanemi Warriors coach also revealed that the conversations with the club president were cordial and both parties agreed that the decision was in the best interest of everyone.

“I had a candid conversation with the president of the club. He told me that, although it pains him to see me leave, he also believes that I know what is best for my career. I really appreciate his understanding and the trust he showed in me during my time at the club.”

Zubair further revealed, “My next step will be made known to the public in due time. For now, I remain grateful for the experience at Telecom SC and look forward to the next challenge.”

Zubair joined Telecom SC after a successful spell in Nigerian football, where he guided El-Kanemi Warriors to the 2024 Federation President Cup title and earned widespread recognition for his tactical acumen. He is also highly respected as a promotion specialist, having guided two different clubs, Gombe United and El-Kanemi Warriors, from the Nigerian National League (NNL) to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).

He is also known for leading Nigeria’s Flying Eagles to the WAFU B U-20 Championship title before leading the team to a bronze medal at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and subsequently qualifying the team for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

His impressive achievements in Egypt have further strengthened his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most respected football coaches, and many are now expected to keep a close eye on his next destination.
