The Grassroots Mobilization Initiative (GMI) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies for the successful rescue of the abducted students and a teacher from Orire, Oyo State.
The group described the operation as a demonstration of effective leadership and professional security coordination.
In a statement released on Monday by its National Coordinator, Samaila Musa, the group commended the President for providing strategic leadership that enabled the security agencies to carry out the operation successfully.
Musa also expressed appreciation to National Security Advisor, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, for their leadership and supervision during the rescue operation.
He said: “We salute the gallant joint officers from various security units who meticulously planned, strategized and put their lives on the line to ensure that these citizens were brought home alive and unharmed.
“Safety is not a social media spectacle. GMI would like to remind all stakeholders that effective governance and complex safety disclosures are not conducted on the pages of newspapers or via social media trends.
“Asking hourly operational updates on sensitive security matters does not demonstrate oversight; rather, it often endangers the lives of both abductees and frontline troops. True intelligence thrives in confidentiality and the success of this mission confirms the disciplined and quiet professionalism maintained by our security agencies throughout this ordeal.”
Musa called on Nigerians to embrace compassion towards partisan politics, especially when lives are at stake, stressing that security challenges require collective support rather than political division.
Musa challenged politicians, commentators and activists who had criticized the federal government during the time of the kidnapping to recognize and praise the administration following the successful rescue.
He added: “We challenge those politicians, commentators and activists who were at the forefront of denouncing and criticizing the Tinubu administration during the kidnapping, to find the same energy to praise the government and our troops.
“In the spirit of true patriotism, criticism must be balanced with objective praise when the government fulfills its primary duty to protect lives. For nearly two decades, our nation has been plagued by the scourges of banditry and terrorism.
“However, the decisive and positive resolution of the Oyo/Orire kidnapping has further boosted the confidence of ordinary citizens across the country and sends a clear and unmistakable signal that the Tinubu administration is deeply committed to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace in every corner of Nigeria.
“GMI stands firmly with the federal government and our military as they continue the vital work of securing our nation. We congratulate the families of the rescued students, principal and teacher and pray for their speedy rehabilitation and return to normalcy.”
