The House of Representatives has urged young Nigerians to participate fully in shaping the nation’s democratic future through the 2027 general elections.
The charge was dropped during the Youth Town Hall segment of the National Assembly Open Week 2026 held at the National Assembly on Friday.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, who gave the charge, said the House had deliberately placed youth development, inclusion and leadership at the center of its legislative agenda.
Represented by House Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, he said the youth town hall has evolved from a dialogue platform to an institutional mechanism through which young Nigerians directly contribute to national policymaking and legislative reforms.
“Many of the ideas now reflected in ongoing constitutional amendment proposals and other national policies have been shaped by contributions made during previous town halls.
“Your voices have influenced the results, and that is precisely why this platform remains relevant,” he said.
