Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested four suspected Boko Haram terrorists following a night raid in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The arrests were made in a continuous operation carried out from 15 to 22 September 2026 which also resulted in 11 suspected terrorists surrendering and nine suspected drug dealers being arrested.
Acting Military Information, North East Headquarters Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, revealed this in his statement, Tuesday.
According to him, troops of the 27th Task Force Brigade, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out an ambush east of Azare village in Gujba at around 23.00 on September 21.
He said soldiers exchanged fire with suspected terrorists, forcing some of them to flee, while four people were later arrested while exploiting the area.
The military said traces of blood found around the scene indicated that some of the fleeing suspects may have suffered injuries during the clash.
Items recovered included four bicycles, food items, one sheep and a box of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The military said the suspects and items found had been detained for further investigation, while troops continued to exploit the area.
In a separate operation, brigade troops also arrested nine suspected drug peddlers during a routine patrol in Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA, on September 19.
The suspects were allegedly found with suspected illegal drugs and marijuana, two mobile phones and N85,900 cash.
The military said the suspects and evidence were turned over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He added that cumulative operational success during the period also included the recovery of vehicles, ammunition and other logistics items.
The military said the operation was aimed at disrupting terrorist and criminal networks and hindering their freedom of action in the Joint Operations Area.
