The President of the Delta State Athletics Association, Malik Itiako Ikpokpo, has lauded the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), describing the current administration led by President Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade as intentional, proactive and highly collaborative.

Speaking to FAKS MEDIA, Ikpokpo said the main difference between the current NSC leadership and previous administrations is their hands-on approach to sports development.

“They do not wait for federations to operate alone without collaboration or supervision. Both Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon Bukola Olopade have been deeply involved in the activities of the federations and their wealth of experience counts positively for Nigerian sport,” he said.

Reacting to Team Nigeria’s medal prospects at the upcoming Commonwealth Games, the Dunamis-Icon CEO urged Nigerians to be patient with athletes, stressing that many of them are still young and developing.

“They will do their best. We shouldn’t put too much pressure on them. Most of these athletes are young and are still building towards their best. My expectations are for the future, also hoping for some pleasant surprises.”

He expressed confidence that the motivation and support provided by the National Sports Commission would inspire athletes to deliver medals for Nigeria at the Games.
