Nigerian artist Promphizy releases a double single titled “Lagos Story,” which he is the half of, along with “IG Girls.”

The album is produced by ILL-KONNECT and mixed by Bobberry Mix. It has a personal approach rather than following a trend. Promphizy called it something based on the real experience he had in Lagos, not just the backdrop but the subject of the story. This method gives “Lagos Story” a distinct weight compared to other Afrobeat recordings that drop the city’s name in passing.

Promphizy is also an artiste who sold out his “Loyal 2 D Street” concert in Jos, with over 4,000 people in attendance, proving he has a fan base that connects with his storytelling. But “Lagos Story” feels like he is reaching beyond the dedicated street audience to something broader.
