Niger: Bago approves Abubakar Yusuf as new Wazirin Kontagora

The Kontagora Emirate Council has appointed Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf as the new Wazirin Kontagora.

The appointment of Abubakar Yusuf on Tuesday 21 July 2026 followed the death of his father, Justice Yusuf Tanko Usman on 4 July 2026.

New Wazirin Kontagora also received the letter of appointment from the governor of Niger State, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago.

Blueprint.ng understands that messages of congratulations and congratulations have been pouring in for the new Wazirin Kontagora to celebrate his elevation to the prestigious traditional seat of his ancestors.

Topping the list of admirers and collaborators congratulating Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf as the new Wazirin Kontagora is Alhaji Nuhu Sani, Associate Director, Administration and Human Resources at Blueprint Newspapers Limited Abuja.

Sani, New Wazirin Kontagora’s long-time friend and classmate, described the appointment as good news in a congratulatory message on Tuesday adding that “this is very good and pleasant news. New Wazirin Kontagora will definitely bring his wealth of experience in carrying out his duties for the development of the Kontagora Emirate.”
