Kwara United have sent a strong message to their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) rivals after introducing 16 new players ahead of the 2026/27 season, with club president Kumbi Titiloye declaring that nothing less than the league title and the Federation President Cup will satisfy the Harmony Boys.
The opening ceremony, held at the club secretariat in Ilorin, marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Afonja Warriors as they look to build on last season and establish themselves among Nigeria’s elite clubs.
During the ceremony, Titiloye revealed that the club embarked on an extensive recruitment exercise following the departure of several players whose contracts expired, while retaining the core of last season’s squad to maintain stability.
“Our goal this season is to finish at the top of the league and win all the trophies available. We want to win the NPFL title and win back the Federation President Cup,” Titiloye said.»
The ambitious recruitment drive allowed Kwara United to strengthen all departments of the team, bringing in experienced NPFL campaigners alongside exciting young talent.
Among the incoming starters are former Rangers International striker Jerry Alex, former Bendel Insurance duo Peace Dewan and Anthony Nnamdi, Nasarawa United striker Benjamin Jack, Ikorodu City striker Ajibola Ayomade and Malian goalkeeper Ouattara Khalifa, who adds international experience to the team.
The Harmony Boys have also retained 16 players from last season, ensuring continuity as the club looks to combine experience with new talent in pursuit of titles.
Titiloye insisted that lessons have been learned from the previous campaign and promised his fans that the club will approach each game with greater determination.
“We are treating every game like a World Cup final. The mistakes of last season will not be repeated,” he added.
The President also acknowledged the continued support of Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the Kwara State Sports Commission, describing their support as critical to the club’s growing ambitions.
Kwara United’s aggressive transfer strategy underlines the increasing competition expected in the 2026/27 NPFL season, with several clubs strengthening their squads in pursuit of continental qualification and national honours.
For the Harmony Boys, however, the goal is already clear.
After reinforcing the team with 16 new faces and keeping the core of last season’s team intact, Kwara United believe they now possess the quality to challenge on all fronts and finish the campaign with important titles.
