Habila Simeon: the 17-year-old captain of the WAFU B Nigeria U20 team

Nigeria Under-20 team coach Abdul Maikaba has chosen 17-year-old Habila Simeon as captain of the Nigerian team for the WAFU B tournament, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The attacking midfielder plays for the famous Jos-based Golden Boot Soccer (GBS) football academy, owned by popular coach Bros, who has been instrumental in developing notable names who have represented Nigeria at various levels.

Habila won’t turn 18 until September, but he did enough to convince Maikaba to hand him the captain’s armband for the tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the AFCON U20.

He is already on the radar of the best teams in Europe, who are looking to make his signing official when he turns 18, or better yet, after the WAFU B tournament.

Nigeria will begin their WAFU B Under-20 Championship campaign against Ghana’s Black Satellites on Monday in a highly anticipated group stage clash.

The Flying Eagles will later face Togo on July 30 before completing their group matches against Burkina Faso on August 2.
