Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency candidate on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 House of Representatives elections, Prince Murtala Haliru Dantoro, has raised the alarm over the crisis rocking the party in Niger State, insisting that the party is on the path to defeat in 2027 unless the crisis is urgently resolved.
Dantoro said this in an interview with Blueprint.ng in Minna on Tuesday, explaining that the existence of different factions is embittering and blocking the party’s unity in the state.
According to him, “there is an urgent need for the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to immediately intervene and resolve the internal crisis rocking the party in Niger State and which is capable of preventing the party from succeeding in the 2027 general elections.”
He described the ADC in Niger State as a house divided against itself that cannot resist, adding that a party divided against itself cannot win major elections like the 2027 general elections.
“I therefore respectfully call on our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to urgently look into the crisis and address the divisions to reconcile the factions, restore order and unity within our ranks of party members,” he appealed.
Dantoro expressed concern over the polarization of the party with some aspirants illegitimately presenting themselves as candidates for the Borgu/Agwara federal constituency, despite having been duly nominated and emerging as the legitimate candidate of the constituency in the upcoming National Assembly elections.
“I am the legitimate and duly nominated candidate in the House of Representatives for Borgu and Agwara Federal Constituency, and I fly the flag of our great party, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the 2027 National Assembly elections. My nomination and appearance as the legitimate candidate in the House of Representatives of the party is a fact supported by documentation, every step of the process that has brought me to this point has been recorded and carried out in line with the constitution and guidelines of the ADC. there were no shortcuts or irregularities,” he explained.
He said that as ambassadors of the ADC presidential candidate in Niger State, his team has begun mobilization house by house, market by market, village by village to convince Nigerians that Atiku Abubakar is the leader this country needs, adding that “but an ambassador cannot confidently represent a fractured house. Give us a united party, sir, and we will give you Nigeria.”
