ADC National President Marks Warns Governor Candidates Against Hate Speech and Empty Promises

Abuja (Core Reporters) – As the 2027 general elections approach, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has charged the party’s governorship candidates to avoid hate speeches and empty promises as they launch their campaigns before February 6, 2027.

Former Senate President Mark gave this warning in Abuja on Monday, August 31, 2026 at a consultative meeting with the party’s governorship candidates from all states.

He urged candidates to avoid making promises they do not intend to keep when they take office because this could undermine the party’s integrity.

“We are the ADC. Our campaign must reflect the kind of country we would like to build. Avoid hate speech and ethnic or religious profiling. We cannot be associated with violence in any form. Unlike the ruling party and the president, the ADC does not believe that all is fair in politics,” he said.

The party president asked candidates to familiarize themselves with the governance and ethical principles of the party as articulated in its ‘Orange Book’, as well as the party manifesto.

The candidates took turns to express their gratitude to the party for giving them the platform to contest the upcoming elections. They express satisfaction with the decision of the party and its presidential candidate to support the party’s campaign to reduce the cost of living for Nigerians, particularly by reinstating the subsidy to reduce the price of fuel.

The candidates, therefore, pledged their loyalty to the party and promised to make it proud by winning the elections.
