The commissioner of Borno corrects the opposition the threat reported on the viral video – THIS

Borno State Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Comrade Saina Buba, has denied media reports claiming that she threatened physical harm to the opposition.

However, the commissioner, in a video that went viral online, which sparked widespread concern, threatened to cut off the fingers of those who pointed at him.

“Now we are playing politics. Whoever shows us a finger, we will show him a finger… Whoever dares to show us a finger again, we will break his finger,” a statement he denied while targeting the opposition.

Briefing journalists at his office, in Maiduguri, Buba said his statement was only addressed to the numerous members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Eastern region.

He insisted that his statement was distorted, creating the impression that he was referring to the oppositions.

“The meeting consisted exclusively of APC members and not political parties. This is a City Boy Movement (CBM) which was organized in the North East to empower party loyalists, which is purely an APC business meeting and not a meeting for political parties.

“We in the APC observed that immediately after the party primaries, some aggrieved members started engaging in anti-party politics, and we felt it necessary to call them to order by telling them: ‘Those who vote for APC candidates will be fed with honey, while those who do not, will be caned’.”

Buba explained that this was a figurative statement, meaning that “our empowerment and other welfare packages will be limited to loyalists, and nothing for those engaged in anti-party activities”.

The commissioner once again stressed that he had no excuse for his statement, which was directed at the gathering of like minds who agreed to be faithful to the idleness of the APC as a party.

He noted that as the 2027 election campaign begins, people should expect a volume of attacks from the opposition.

Buba said: “Fortunately there is no opposition in Borno as our party will win all elective positions ahead of several people-oriented projects implemented by the state and federal government in the North Eastern region.”
