Chelle picks new players in Super Eagles preliminary roster for AFCON qualifiers

Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has spring surprises in the Super Eagles’ preliminary player list for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau respectively, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign to be in AFCON 2027 with a home draw in Uyo against Madagascar on September 23, before traveling to play Guinea-Bissau four days later.

Chelle, who wants to get his team off to a good start, will begin the process of sending out preliminary invitations on Monday, before settling on a 30-man roster for the games.

We can exclusively reveal that the coach included a new defender and also a winger in his preliminary list. Both players have been on the coach’s radar as we reported exclusively a few months ago.

However, there is no confirmation if they will be on the final list of players expected in two weeks.
