Turkish doctor says injured Osimhen was afraid for 3 or 4 months

Nigerian international striker Victor Osimhen is in a race against time to be fit for the Super Eagles’ upcoming AFCON qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Osimhen continued his fiery start to the season with Galatasaray with the goal that opened the scoring for his team in the 16th minute. His sixth goal of the season in four games.

However, he was injured in the 33rd minute with what looked like a groin injury, which will likely keep him out of the Super Eagles’ matches at the start of the AFCON qualifiers.

The Super Eagles will begin their campaign to be in AFCON 2027 with a home draw in Uyo against Madagascar on September 23 before traveling to play Guinea-Bissau four days later.

His participation in matches is now seriously in doubt, although his club Galatasaray is expected to make a statement on the severity of the possible time he is expected to be out.

Respected Turkish doctor Dr. Gürkan Kubilay, commenting on the injury, said Osimhen probably tore ligaments within the muscle in this position. In these types of injuries, players are usually sidelined for three or four months.
