The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, has been conferred with three traditional titles during consultations with royal fathers in the emirates of Gudi, Tikau, Pataskum and Fune.
Wali was honored as Sarkin Yakin Gudi by the Emir of Gudi, Ajiyan Tikau by the Emir of Tikau and Zanna Kaloma of Pataskum by the Emir of Pataskum. His running mate, lawyer Saleh Samanja, received the title Turakin Tikau.
In Gudi, the Emir reminded that the title was previously held by the late former governor, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, affirming Wali’s dignity of the honour.
In Tikau, the monarch urged Wali to prioritize agriculture and education if elected.
The Emir of Pataskum assured the delegation of the emirate’s support, while Fune stakeholders pledged collective support to the APC.
Speaking during the visits, Wali thanked the royal fathers for their prayers and blessings.
He reaffirmed his commitment to build on the achievements of Governor Mai Mala Buni and former Governor Senator Ibrahim Geidam, under whom he served as Secretary to the Yobe State Government.
The state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, said the consultations were conducted on the directive of Governor Buni as part of engagement with traditional institutions across the state.
The powerful delegation included Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi, President Chiroma Buba Mashio, Deputy Governor Candidate, Lawyer Saleh Samanja, former Deputy Governors Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu and Alhaji Aliyu Saleh Bagare, along with other government officials and party leaders.
