There are doubts over the availability of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen for the Nigerian senior team for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau respectively, reports ownGoalNigeria.com.
Osimhen is struggling to be match fit after picking up a knock during the last round of Turkish League matches.
He missed the UEFA Champions League defeat against Sporting Lisbon and will also not be available for Sunday’s match against Kocaelispor.
The early diagnosis is that he will return after the international break, although there is still a possibility that he will return for the game against Trabzonspor, which is the last game before the international break.
Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has a replacement on the list, with Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad’s George Ilenikhena among his options after the 20-year-old agreed to play for Nigeria rather than wait for France.
“George dreams of playing with Osimhen in attack for Super Eagles but if Osimhen is not available then he is ready to step up. He comes into games in his best form in a long time and is ready to deliver,” his representative told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
