What does the use of Jonathan Airport mean for Ebonyi Aviation Facility – State Government

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday used Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, Ebonyi State, to travel to an engagement in Boki Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State.

Jonathan arrived at the airport around 8am. aboard a private jet, accompanied by members of his entourage, including the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Peter Akpeh.

The former president was received on behalf of the Ebonyi State Government by Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, alongside members of the state executive council and other senior government officials.

The State Government described Jonathan’s use of the airport as a further demonstration of confidence in the facility and renewed its call for airlines, private aircraft operators, corporate organizations and other flight users to support the airport.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, said sustained support was critical to maximizing the economic and developmental benefits of the airport.

According to him, the facility provides a platform to improve connectivity, investment, tourism, business activities and movement of people and goods in and out of Ebonyi State.

After the reception, Obila personally escorted Jonathan and his entourage to Boki, where the former president was due to attend a function.

He is expected to return to Ebonyi later in the day for a dinner at the banquet hall of the Presidential Lodge, Government House, Abakaliki.

Jonathan is later expected to return to Chuba Okadigbo International Airport for onward journey to Bayelsa State.

The state government said it would remain committed to the continued development and use of the airport as a major aviation gateway to Ebonyi State and the wider region.
