Ayodele Elizabeth, 13, begins her basketball career at the BeNurtured athletics tournament

At only 13 years old, Ayodele Elizabeth begins to turn her admiration for basketball into a promising sporting path, after her participation in the first basketball competition organized by BeNurtured Athletics.

For Elizabeth, the tournament was more than a chance to play the game she had admired from a distance. It was a defining experience that introduced her to the discipline, teamwork and determination needed to compete on the basketball court.

Elizabeth, a member of the Titans women’s team, which competed in the tournament, described her introduction to basketball as a dream come true after she was invited to participate in the competition.

“Basketball is an interesting and fun game. I really liked admiring the people who played it until the day my dream came true. This happened when they invited me to sign up for one of the tournaments,” he said.

However, the young player acknowledged that her transition from spectator to participant was not without challenges.

Preparation for the competition required repeated training sessions, during which he learned the fundamentals of the game, including passing, receiving, ball handling, drills and shooting.

According to her, the early stages required a lot of effort and commitment, but the determination and encouragement of those around her helped her slowly adapt to the demands of the sport.

“At first it wasn’t very easy because I had to go practice after practice, where I experimented a lot, the passes, the receptions, the drills and the shots.

“But as time passed with determination and encouragement, I focused and gave it my best,” Elizabeth said.

Since then, his participation in the BeNurtured Athletics competition has given him a new sense of confidence and belonging in basketball.

“Today I can boast of being among those who can really participate in basketball,” he added.

Beyond the immediate excitement of competing, Elizabeth is already looking toward a future in which she hopes to establish herself among the world’s renowned basketball players.

He expressed his desire to continue developing his skills, while recognizing the importance of faith, courage and perseverance in achieving his ambition.

“My prayer is that God equips me with more knowledge, wisdom and understanding to excel and be among the famous basketball players in the world,” he said.

He also offered a message that reflects the values ​​that guide his sporting career: “You have to put God first in everything you want to do and support Him with courage and determination.”
