Afrobeats singer, Tiwa Savage, told fellow singer Teniola Apata, aka Teni, to “pick a date” after Teni called her for a boxing match.
Teni launched the challenge in a video posted on her official Instagram account @tenientertainer.
In the post, Teni tagged Tiwa Savage and wrote, “MAMA!!! let me fight @tiwasavage 3 billion later, I’m going to apologize for being out of the ring.”
The “Somebody’s Son” singer responded in the comments section with three words: “Pick a date.”
Teni made the challenge while discussing the earnings of Nigerian artists and the expensive cars owned by some artists.
He proposed a purse of ₦1.5 billion for the bout and joked about fighting Savage before singing “My Darling” for her afterwards.
The exchange comes days after reality star Phyna knocked out actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing match in Lagos.
The fight, held on October 1, was part of Balmoral Group Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series.
Phyna won the scheduled four-round contest by knockout, while skit creator Carter Efe defeated rapper Speed Darlington in another celebrity bout at the event.
The series has previously featured the likes of Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe in celebrity boxing matches.
Carter Efe previously defeated singer Portable by unanimous decision in a three-round bout at the same venue in May.
No promoter, formal agreement or date has been announced for a proposed Teni-Savage bout.
Teni is known for songs including “Fargin” and “Askamaya,” while Savage has recorded hits including “Somebody’s Son.”
