Nigerian international Umar Abdullahi has expressed his delight after making his debut for the Super Eagles and registering his first assist for the national team.

Abdullahi came off the bench in Nigeria’s 3-3 draw and made an immediate impact, setting up Akor Adams for the Super Eagles’ third goal in what became a memorable first appearance for the youngster.

Reflecting on the occasion in a post on his Facebook page, Abdullahi described the moment as a proud moment, while highlighting his determination to continue working hard for the national team.

“Proud to represent my nation. The battle is over, but the journey continues. We keep fighting, we keep believing and we keep moving forward. All for the badge. All for the nation,” he wrote.

The FC Hradec Králové forward also highlighted the personal significance of the occasion, describing it as a memory worth remembering after having recorded his first appearance and first assist for the Super Eagles.

“And a memory to remember: first debut, first assist,” added Abdullahi.

The debut represents another important milestone in Abdullahi’s football journey, which began at the Gnosis Stallions Football Academy in Ilorin before playing for Kebbi United in the Nigerian National League (NNL) and subsequently moving to Europe.

The youngster had already caught the eye on the European stage in August when he scored twice off the bench for FC Hradec Králové against Panathinaikos in UEFA Conference League qualifying, and his late goals rescued his team to a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Having made his senior international debut and provided an assist in his first appearance, Abdullahi will be hoping to build on his impressive start as he continues his quest to establish himself in the Super Eagles set-up.
