Bandits kidnap residents in Kaduna estate

Suspected bandits have kidnapped several residents of Nurul Siraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna State, during a midnight raid.

The attack reportedly occurred between midnight and 1am, with one source estimating the number of abducted residents at around six.

A source, who requested anonymity, informed Blueprint that the attackers entered the estate through the second gate and kidnapped both male and female residents.

“Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rajiun. Last night, kidnappers picked up nearly six people, both men and women, in Nurul Siraj Estate, Millennium City, Kaduna, through the second gate,” the source said.

The source called for increased security measures in the area and prayed for the safe return of the victims.

Another report circulating on social media claimed that a family consisting of a father, mother and two children, as well as two neighbors, were kidnapped in the attack.

The account also states that at least 10 armed men invaded a house in search of a particular woman but, failing to find her, kidnapped other family members and another family.

There were also reports that the troops engaged in a firefight with the attackers, but the attackers escaped with some of their victims. Blueprint could not independently verify this account at the time of filing this report.

Neither the Kaduna state government nor security agencies have released an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
